Baseball Game Preview: Crenshaw Cougars vs. George Washington Prep Generals

The Crenshaw Cougars will head out to face off against the George Washington Prep Generals at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Crenshaw is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last eight games.

Crenshaw had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Hawkins on Monday. The Cougars blew past the Hawks 17-7. Considering the Cougars have won three contests by more than seven runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Arye Gustave was a standout: he got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Diston, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one triple.

Crenshaw always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .625. The last time their OBP was this high was back in May of 2024.

Meanwhile, George Washington Prep lost 20-2 to Jordan on Monday. The Generals have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Crenshaw pushed their record up to 8-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. As for George Washington Prep, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-9.

Crenshaw took their win against George Washington Prep in their previous meeting two weeks ago by a conclusive 12-4 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cougars since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
