Basketball Recap: Marion County Warriors vs. Roane County Yellowjackets

Marion County suffered their biggest loss since January 14th on Friday. They took a blow against the Roane County Yellowjackets, falling 85-41. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 301st, while the Yellowjackets are ranked 50th).

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Roane County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Aiden O'Leary, who went 8-for-13 on his way to 19 points in addition to five assists and five boards. What's more, O'Leary also posted a 62% shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's achieved since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Aaron Layne, who shot 80% from the field to rack up 19 points.

Marion County has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-10 record this season. The victory (which was Roane County's sixth in a row) raised their record to 26-3.

Marion County does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Roane County, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 66-48 win against Chattanooga School for the Arts & Sciences on the 4th.
