Softball Recap: Monroeville Extends Home Winning Streak to 17

Monroeville is still undefeated this season after their contest against New Riegel on Thursday, but New Riegel came as close as anyone has to beating them. The Eagles came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Blue Jackets. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Eagles also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2023.

Veanna Helmstetter spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Monroeville saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Taryn Tyler, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Monroeville pushed their record up to 13-0 with the win, which was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for New Riegel, with the defeat, they broke their seven-game winning streak and moved their record to 7-2.
