Basketball Recap: R.J. Reynolds' Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

R.J. Reynolds can bid farewell to their seven-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They took down the Glenn Bobcats 77-60. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 82-58 back in January.

R.J. Reynolds' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Andreas Kazakos led the charge by putting up nine points in addition to five assists and five rebounds. The dominant performance gave Kazakos a new career-high in boards. Kingston Carmichael was another key player, going 5 of 11 on his way to 13 points.

Glenn's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Derrek Griffin, who posted 17 points, and Jeremiah Torian, who earned nine points and seven rebounds. Jauan Wilson also deserves some recognition as he scored his first points of the season.

R.J. Reynolds' victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-13. As for Glenn, they dropped their record down to 5-15 with the loss, which was their eighth straight at home.

R.J. Reynolds and Glenn could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings. R.J. Reynolds will face off against East Forsyth at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday down 288 places (333 vs. 45). Similarly, Glenn (ranked 413th) will meet Mount Tabor (ranked 19th) at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
