Baseball Recap: Scotland County Tigers vs. Westran Hornets

Scotland County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 6-3 to the Westran Hornets. The Tigers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Hornets apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Vincent Dale put in work no matter where he played. He struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. Dale was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one RBI.

Dale wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Carter Clatt, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Logan Buford also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Scotland County's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Westran, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Scotland County will face off against Clark County at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Westran, they will take on North Shelby at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
