River Valley came into Friday's contest having lost eight straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They skirted past the Richland Center Hornets 6-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Blackhawks have posted since April 22, 2024.

Hughson Thatcher looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Daniel Yanke was excellent, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one run and one double.

River Valley's win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-6 and their overall record up to 2-12. As for Richland Center, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-7.
