There's no place like home for St. Joseph Academy, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over the Peniel Baptist Academy Warriors on Monday. The victory continues a trend for the Flashes in their matchups with the Warriors: they've now won five in a row.

St. Joseph Academy had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first two sets, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 20-25, 22-25, 25-22, 25-17, 15-4.

Emma Campbell Strickland paced St. Joseph Academy's offense, picking up seven kills. Strickland were helped by Ariel Scheideman and Suzi Valbuena, who contributed five assists each. Scheideman was also solid from the service line: she led the team with two aces.

St. Joseph Academy's win bumped their record up to 8-5. As for Peniel Baptist Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 3-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Joseph Academy will venture away from home to square off against First Baptist Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Peniel Baptist Academy, they will head out to face off against Harvest Community at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
