Baseball Recap: Huffman's Luck Changes for the Better on Wednesday

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Mountain Brook, Huffman was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out the Woodlawn Colonels 6-4. The win was some much needed relief for the Vikings as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

Xavier White spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on five hits and racked up 11 Ks. Huffman is 2-1 when White posts ten or more strikeouts, but 4-8 otherwise.

Huffman's victory was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 6-9. As for Woodlawn, they are on an 11-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-15.

Huffman will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Colonels: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
