Elk Point-Jefferson and West Central are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2016, but not for long. The Elk Point-Jefferson Huskies are taking a road trip to square off against the West Central Trojans at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.

Elk Point-Jefferson might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 58-42 to Centerville, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The Huskies have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, West Central came tearing into Friday's match with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 31.8 points), and they left with even more momentum. They took their game with ease, bagging a 72-34 victory over the Cubs. Given the Trojans' advantage in MaxPreps' South Dakota basketball rankings (they are ranked sixth, while the Cubs are ranked 114th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

West Central pushed their record up to 17-3 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.7 points over those games. As for Elk Point-Jefferson, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-13.

Elk Point-Jefferson strolled past West Central when the teams last played back in February of 2024 by a score of 71-56. The rematch might be a little tougher for Elk Point-Jefferson since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
