Baseball Recap: Thornton Comes Up Short

While it was Thornton who put the first runs on the board on Wednesday, it was Bloom who put up more. The Wildcats came up short against the Blazing Trojan, falling 17-7. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Blazing Trojan this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 17-3 on Monday.

Jovontae Wade and Antoine Bishop stepped up to the plate in a big way. Wade went 1-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run, while Bishop got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base. Wade has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last six times he's played. Lerone Pride was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs.

Thornton has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-13-1 record this season. As for Bloom, they pushed their record up to 14-12 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home.

While Thornton had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
