Basketball Recap: East Takes a Loss

East was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their 20th straight loss dating back to last season. They were dealt a 54-23 defeat at the hands of the Firestone Falcons. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Dragons this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 46-16 back in December of 2024.

Despite the loss, East saw an underclassman step up: freshman Amariah Hall posted 12 points and eight rebounds.

Firestone got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Mariah Richards out in front who put up ten points. Another player making a difference was Kennedy Whiting, who had 13 points.

East's defeat dropped their record down to 0-9. As for Firestone, their victory ended a seven-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 6-9.

East has already played their next game, a 52-26 loss against Buchtel on the 30th. As for Firestone, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 58-30 defeat against Ellet on the 28th.
