Softball Recap: Moore Haven Has No Trouble Against Glades Day

Moore Haven won against Gateway last Thursday with 18 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Wednesday. Everything went the Terriers' way against the Glades Day Gators as they made off with an 18-1 victory. The Terriers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matches by six runs or more this season.

Preslynn Baker was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit (and not a single walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple.

In other batting news, Moore Haven let Brooklyn Sergent and Khloe Desroche run wild. Sergent went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one double, while Desroche went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI Sergent has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Truley Osceola, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Moore Haven always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .739. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Glades Day only posted an OBP of .100.

Moore Haven has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Glades Day, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-4.

Moore Haven didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 12-8 loss against Immokalee on the 17th. As for Glades Day, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Glades Central at 4:30 p.m.
