Basketball Recap: Cypress Creek Skates Past Pasco with Ease

You can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Cypress Creek's strategy against Pasco on Monday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Cypress Creek Coyotes blew the Pasco Pirates out of the water with a 66-15 final score. The Coyotes have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matches by 20 points or more this season.

Cypress Creek got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Deslynn Nickell out in front who went 13 of 27 en route to 30 points in addition to eight steals and six boards. That makes it four consecutive games in which Nickell has scored at least a third of Cypress Creek's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mackenzie Luebs, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 steals.

Cypress Creek smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in nine consecutive contests.

Cypress Creek's victory bumped their record up to 9-11. As for Pasco, they are on a 23-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-15.

Cypress Creek won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Land O' Lakes at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. That match will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Jessi Saffold and Nickell. As for Pasco, they will challenge Wesley Chapel at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
