League recap: Washington stuns Milton in upset

The biggest upset of the week belonged to Washington, who took down 271st ranked Milton, 14-6.

Pine Forest's Dejon Brown rumbled for the longest rushing play in 6A District 1 this season in his game against Pace last week. Brown's team lost to the Patriots as he sprinted for 83 yards on the play and finished with 97 in all.

Gerald Bright was a passing and rushing force as Escambia defeated Pensacola.

Bright was the most successful running back in the league this week. In 22 carries, he ran for 167 yards as the Gators lost to Pace. Danikeei Hollowell also contributed to the rushing game with 144 yards on the ground.

Mickey Lindsey's team's Daniel Smyers and Jacob Sherrard led the league in both passing and receiving yards. Smyers has thrown for 419 yards this season, while Sherrard has 14 catches for 197 yards. Hollowell from Escambia leads the league in rushing with 1,239 yards.

Willie Spears' team extended the longest winning streak in 6A District 1 this week by beating the Tigers, 35-14. The win marks fifth in a row for the the Gators.
