Bangor is a perfect 9-0 against Northern Lehigh since April of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Slaters will face off against the Bulldogs at 4:15 p.m. Bangor will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.
Things were looking good for Bangor after they put the first runs on the board last Friday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell 12-7 to Salisbury Township.
Nolan Koza made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 2-for-4. That run marked the first that he scored this season. Alex Farensbach was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Northern Lehigh entered their tilt with Moravian Academy on Friday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They never let the Lions get on the board and left with a 12-0 victory.
Parker Schaffer made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.
In other pitching news, Chris Vargas looked comfortable as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. He has become a key player for Northern Lehigh: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-6 otherwise.
Back at the plate, Brayden Buskirk was excellent, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Coy Daubert, who scored two runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.
Northern Lehigh always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .577. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .529 or higher in three consecutive matchups.
Northern Lehigh's record now sits at 4-7. As for Bangor, their loss dropped their record down to 1-6-1.
Bangor was able to grind out a solid win over Northern Lehigh when the teams last played back in April of 2024, winning 8-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Slaters since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
