Softball Recap: Potlatch Comes Up Short

Clearwater Valley hit Potlatch with a four-run fourth inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Loggers fell just short of the Rams by a score of 7-6. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Rams this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 9-7 on Monday.

Potlatch saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Olivia Smith, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Smith has been hot for a while, having posted at least one stolen base the last 11 times she's played.

This is the second loss in a row for Potlatch and nudges their season record down to 6-4. Even worse, they were so close both times: the losses came by an average of only 1.5 runs. As for Clearwater Valley, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 8-2.

Coming up, Potlatch will be playing at home against Lewis County co-op [Highland/Nezperce] at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Potlatch will need to watch out since Lewis County co-op [Highland/Nezperce] has now posted at least ten runs in their last six matchups. As for Clearwater Valley, they are taking a road trip to face off against Kendrick at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
