Soccer Game Preview: Plant vs. Newsome

The Plant Panthers will challenge the Newsome Wolves at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Plant is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering East Lake just ended the team's five-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 4-3.

Meanwhile, Newsome kept a clean sheet against East Bay back in December of 2024. Everything went their way against the Indians as they made off with an 8-0 win. The result was nothing new for Wolves, who have now won six matchups by three goals or more so far this season.

Their offense was hitting East Bay from everywhere, as six different players booted in a goal. Carter Chaney led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for three goals all by himself.

Newsome's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-2. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 26 goals over those four games. As for Plant, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-2-2.

Plant came out on top in a nail-biter against Newsome in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, sneaking past 2-1. Does Plant have another victory up their sleeve, or will Newsome turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
