Baseball Recap: Windsor Finds Playoff Glory Versus Palisade

It's playoff time, and Windsor had no trouble coming through when it counted. They put the hurt on the Palisade Bulldogs with a sharp 9-2 victory on Friday. The Wizards might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten games by six runs or more this season.

Wyatt Gustafson tossed a big game, striking out six batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off eight hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Eastin Hubbard was a standout: he went 1-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Teegan Cole, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one double.

Windsor is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Palisade, the defeat snapped their winning streak at six games and leaves them with a 17-9 record.

Windsor didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, an 8-2 victory against Pueblo County on the 23rd. As for Palisade, they will challenge Severance at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Bulldogs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Silver Knights have averaged an impressive 9.9 runs per game this season.
