Baseball Recap: Hope Christian Beats Del Norte for Their Third Straight Victory

Hope Christian played in-conference for the first time on Tuesday and got just the result they were looking for. They blew past the Del Norte Knights 13-2. The Huskies might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by six runs or more this season.

Avery Dearholt looked comfortable as he struck out nine batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Luciano Gabaldon was a standout: he scored two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Hunter Solwick, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Hope Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .618. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.

The victory was the third in a row for Hope Christian, bringing their record up to 13-6. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Del Norte, they dropped their record down to 1-13-1 with the loss, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Looking ahead, Hope Christian will be playing in front of their home fans against Bernalillo at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Huskies are facing the Spartans at the right time seeing as the Spartans are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Del Norte, they are taking a road trip to square off against Manzano at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Monarchs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.76 runs per game on average), something the Knights will no doubt try to take advantage of.
