Football Game Preview: Stuarts Draft Cougars vs. Buckingham Knights

The Stuarts Draft Cougars are taking a road trip to challenge the Buckingham Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Stuarts Draft is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They claimed a resounding 56-18 victory over Madison County. Given the Cougars' advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia football rankings (they are ranked 102nd, while the Mountaineers are ranked 248th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Stuarts Draft's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Derrick Moore led the charge by throwing for 121 yards and three TDs while completing 80% of his passes, and also rushing for 33 yards. Brandon Pritchett was another key player, gaining 143 total yards.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Buckingham). They simply couldn't be stopped two weeks ago as they easily beat Cumberland 56-0. Winning may never get old, but the Knights sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Stuarts Draft's win bumped their record up to 8-3. As for Buckingham, their victory bumped their record up to 9-1.
