Recap: Hononegah Indians vs. Rockford Auburn Knights
After a string of three wins, the Hononegah Indians's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They took a serious blow against Rockford Auburn, falling 77-48. While losing is never fun, Hononegah can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 308th, while Rockford Auburn is ranked 94th).
Rakim Chaney continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Rockford Auburn, scoring 41 points along with six steals and five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Chaney has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Amir Danforth, who scored 13 points along with three steals.
Hononegah's loss dropped their record down to 11-15. As for Rockford Auburn, they have been performing well recently as they've won 16 of their last 21 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 19-10 record this season.
Hononegah will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Jefferson at 6:30 p.m. As for Rockford Auburn, they will head out on the road to take on Guilford at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Guilford is on a ten-game streak of home wins, Rockford Auburn a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
