Baseball Recap: Luverne Starts Season with Win at Home

Luverne gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Worthington Trojans with a sharp 12-2 victory. The Cardinals haven't had any issues with the Trojans recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

Joshua Hansen made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed five innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits. Hansen was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Carter Sehr and Maddux Domagala did most of the damage at the plate: Sehr scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Domagala scored two runs and stole four bases while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Alex Schlosser, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Luverne will challenge Pipestone at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Worthington, they will face off against Marshall at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
