Softball Recap: Waccamaw Takes a Loss

Myrtle Beach hit Waccamaw with a five-run first inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Warriors fell 11-7 to the Seahawks. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Seahawks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-11 back in March.

Sarah Grace Williams and Eleanor Parler did some serious damage despite the final result: Williams went 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Parler went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that Williams has hit this season. Ella Marina Papadea was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Waccamaw has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last nine matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season. As for Myrtle Beach, their win ended a 13-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-14.

Looking ahead, Waccamaw will face off against Loris at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Myrtle Beach, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against North Myrtle Beach at 6:00 p.m.
