Basketball Game Preview: Fossil Ridge SaberCats vs. Overland Trailblazers

The Fossil Ridge SaberCats just played last yesterday, but they'll still welcome the Overland Trailblazers at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The timing is sure in Fossil Ridge's favor as the squad sits on five straight wins at home while Overland has been banged up by five consecutive losses on the road.

Fossil Ridge is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Greeley West 94-40. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 48-18.

Fossil Ridge's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Donovan Banek led the charge by dropping a double-double on 14 points and 11 boards. Those 11 rebounds gave Banek a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Drake Walker, who went 8 of 11 on his way to 16 points.

Fossil Ridge was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Overland was just a bucket shy of victory on Tuesday and fell 60-59 to Lewis-Palmer. While the Trailblazers didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Rangers 12-7 in the first quarter.

Fossil Ridge will need focus on slowing down Isreal Littleton, one of several Overland players who made an impact when they last played. He dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Siraaj Ali, who went 5 for 12 en route to 12 points.

Fossil Ridge is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a massive bump to their 8-6 record this season. As for Overland, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-9.
