Softball Recap: Eastern Christian Has No Trouble Against Secaucus

While Eastern Christian put up plenty of runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Secaucus. The Eagles were the clear victors by a 16-0 margin over the Patriots. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won five contests by ten runs or more so far this season.

Avery Conrad tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched.

At the plate, Allison VandeVrede was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles. Alina Ellis was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Eastern Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The win made it two in a row for Eastern Christian and bumps their season record up to 6-7. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.5 runs over those games. As for Secaucus, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-8.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Eastern Christian will welcome Paterson Charter School for Science and Technology at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Secaucus, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against North Arlington at 4:00 p.m. The Patriots are facing the Vikings at the right time seeing as the Vikings are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
