Volleyball Recap: Ferguson Starts Season with Defeat at Home

Ferguson unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They came up short against the Mater Lakes Academy Bears on Tuesday, falling 3-0. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it five in a row.

Ferguson was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Mater Lakes Academy work for it, especially in the third set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 25-19, 26-24.

Rachelle Rodriguez paced Ferguson's offense, picking up six kills. Rodriguez got some help from Samantha Olivia and her seven assists. Katie Aguirre controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

Ferguson has already played their next game, a 3-0 loss against Lourdes Academy on the 21st. As for Mater Lakes Academy, they will take on Ransom Everglades at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
