New Roads hit Rolling Hills Prep with a five-run fifth inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Huskies fell just short of the Jaguars by a score of 10-9. The Huskies have struggled against the Jaguars recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Max Sarner put in work no matter where he played. He pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two runs and one RBI. He has become a key player for Rolling Hills Prep: the team is 5-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 4-5-1 otherwise.
In other batting news, Samuel Lopez stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: he got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, three stolen bases, and two RBI. Matthew Moyer was another key player, going 3-for-5 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one triple.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when University duked it out with Fairfax on Wednesday. The Wildcats never let the Lions get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory.
Like Rolling Hills Prep, University also got a great game from a two-way player: Jacob Santos. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over five innings pitched. What's more, Santos posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
In other batting news, Anthony Moller was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Evan Han, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs.
University always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .515. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fairfax only posted an OBP of .091.
University's record now sits at 8-12. As for Rolling Hills Prep, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-6-1.
University's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Rolling Hills Prep hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .347. It's a different story for University, though, as they've only averaged .244. Will they be able to contain Rolling Hills Prep's hitters?
Rolling Hills Prep couldn't quite finish off University in their previous matchup back in March of 2024 and fell 2-0. Can the Huskies avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
