Softball Recap: American Fork Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for American Fork, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They walked away with a 10-5 victory over the Alta Hawks on Tuesday. This was payback for the Cavemen, who suffered a 30-19 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Mazie Walters was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over seven innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-low in earned runs (zero). She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-4. She also brought in an RBI, marking her first of the season.

In other batting news, Alexis Anderson was excellent, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Kennedy McKinney, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

The win got American Fork back to even at 2-2. As for Alta, they dropped their record down to 0-2 with the loss, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Coming up, American Fork will face off against Green Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Alta, they will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Olympus at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. This will be Olympus' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
