Volleyball Game Preview: Miami Springs Golden Hawks vs. Mater Academy Charter Lions

The Miami Springs Golden Hawks will head out on the road to take on the Mater Academy Charter Lions at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Miami Springs will be strutting in after a victory while Mater Academy Charter will be coming in after a loss.

Miami Springs made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Booker T. Washington, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Golden Hawks put the hurt on the Tornadoes with a sharp 3-0 win on Thursday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Golden Hawks as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Miami Springs never let Booker T. Washington on the board, but things got pretty close in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 25-11, 25-22, 25-13.

Meanwhile, Mater Academy Charter suffered their biggest defeat since March 4th on Tuesday. They came up short against Belen Jesuit, falling 3-0. The Lions' loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

While Mater Academy Charter ultimately came up short, they really made Belen Jesuit work, particularly in the third set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 25-19, 27-25.

Miami Springs' win bumped their record up to 4-7. As for Mater Academy Charter, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-4.

Miami Springs was able to grind out a solid victory over Mater Academy Charter in their previous meeting back in April of 2022, winning 3-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Golden Hawks since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
