Basketball Recap: Lake Country Lutheran Starts Season with Win at Home

Lake Country Lutheran took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Messmer Bishops with a sharp 71-49 victory. The Lightning's offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lake Country Lutheran to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jake Burow, who went 7-for-11 en route to 14 points along with six boards and three steals. Burow has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 17 times he's played. Another player making a difference was Will Molnau, who shot 75% from the field on his way to 16 points and five rebounds.

Messmer's defeat was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-2.

Coming up, Lake Country Lutheran will hit the road for the first time this season to challenge Catholic Central at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. As for Messmer, they will host Salam at 7:15 p.m. on Friday.
