Baseball Recap: Cass Tech Now 11-3 over Last 14 Games

Cass Tech has relied on a stalwart pitcher averaging 3.15 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Wednesday. They came out on top against the Taylor Griffins by a score of 15-10. The Technicians have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Griffins, too.

Cass Tech got a massive performance out of Juan Torres, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases and five RBI. Those four hits gave Torres a new career-high. Khari Kumasi was another key player, going 4-for-5 with four runs and two doubles.

Cass Tech has been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 14 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Taylor, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-14 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cass Tech will venture away from home to take on Farmington at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Taylor, they will challenge Carlson at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Griffins' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Marauders have averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season.
