Softball Game Preview: Covington Trojans vs. Riverton Parke Panthers

For the second straight game, Covington will face off against Riverton Parke. The Trojans will head out to square off against the Panthers at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Covington has given up an average of 8.7 runs per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Saturday just wasn't the day for Covington's offense. They lost 14-0 to Riverton Parke on Saturday. The Trojans haven't had much luck with the Panthers recently, as the team has come up short the last eight times they've met.

For Riverton Parke's part, Madison Coonce made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Coonce has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Maddy Lumaye was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Jacee Stonebraker was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Riverton Parke kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits every time they've taken the field this season.

Riverton Parke pushed their record up to 16-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 13.5 runs. As for Covington, their loss dropped their record down to 7-11.
