Basketball Recap: DeForest Comes Up Short

DeForest extended their losing streak to four on Thursday, dropping them down to 8-8. They had to suffer through a 68-39 loss at the hands of the Oregon Panthers. The Norskies were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 34-13.

DeForest lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Allie Nordness, who shot 50% from the field on her way to 11 points and six assists. Alexis Accuardi was another key player, putting up nine points in addition to seven rebounds and four blocks.

As for Oregon, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 8-6. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 34.7 points.

Teagan Schoenecker produced another solid effort dropping a double-double with 25 points and 11 boards. Schoenecker is also crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Niasia Niedziejko, who went 5-for-12 en route to 15 points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Looking ahead, DeForest will welcome Milton at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Norskies will need to watch out since the Red Hawks have now posted at least 55 points in their last ten games. As for Oregon, they have already played their next matchup, a 73-38 defeat against Madison Memorial on the 24th.
