Two dominant guards in EJ Swindle and Coriahnn Gallatin are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Westview Wolverines will venture away from home to face off against the Millard North Mustangs at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Westview took a loss when they played away from home last Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They blew past Columbus, posting an 84-55 victory. The Wolverines have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine contests by 25 points or more this season.
Amir WIse and Elijah Wilborn were among the main playmakers for Westview as the former shot 75% from the field to rack up 17 points and the latter went 5-for-7 on his way to 10 points along with eight rebounds and six assists. Thanks to that strong game, WIse now owns an excellent 51.9% shooting accuracy. Rhys Wollman also deserves some recognition as he scored his first points of the season.
They weren't the only ones working in the assist department: Westview was working as a unit and finished the game with 27 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since the start of last season.
Meanwhile, Millard North was able to grind out a solid win over Omaha North on Tuesday, taking the game 61-48. The victory continues a trend for the Mustangs in their matchups with the Vikings: they've now won three in a row.
Millard North's win came from a few key players that Westview will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Major Mosser, who posted 13 points and eight boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Chambers, who almost dropped a double-double with 11 points and nine rebounds.
Westview's record now sits at 13-7. As for Millard North, their record is now 15-5.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Westview has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 29.4 boards per game. However, it's not like Millard North struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 33 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Westview couldn't quite finish off Millard North in their previous meeting back in February of 2025 and fell 69-66. Can the Wolverines avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
