Softball Recap: Kenton Takes a Loss

Kenton had lost three straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 1-6 to make it four. They lost 8-0 to the Elida Bulldogs. The match marked the first time this year in which the Wildcats were not able to get on the board.

As for Elida, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 5-5. Considering they have won five games by more than seven runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

For Elida's part, Lilly Sifrit was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. Sifrit has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two triples, three runs, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Elida got a big performance out of Maddie Kill, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Liv Walters, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Kenton will challenge Bath at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Elida, they will host Miller City at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Bulldogs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wildcats have averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season.
