Basketball Recap: Leake County Now 5-1 over Last Six Games

Leake County won the last time they faced Mount Olive, and LaTavean Fortune did his part to make sure it happened again. The Leake County Gators simply couldn't be stopped on Saturday as they easily beat the Mount Olive Pirates 83-28 thanks in part to Fortune, who went 13 for 18 en route to 35 points in addition to seven steals and six boards. The contest was his fourth in a row with at least ten points.

Jaquailyn Pippen was another key player, putting up seven points and six steals. He has been hot, having posted three or more steals the last six times he's played.

Leake County has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 50.6 points. As for Mount Olive, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-11.

Leake County will be playing at home against Piney Woods at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Mount Olive, they will head out to square off against Taylorsville at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Taylorsville will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Mount Olive surely won't give up without a fight.
