Baseball Recap: Lincoln-Way East Has No Trouble Against Calvary Christian

Lincoln-Way East never got on the board in their matchup on Tuesday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Calvary Christian on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by an 11-3 margin over the Knights.

Colin Bettenhausen looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Rocco Triolo was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Another player making a difference was Charlie Cosich, who scored three runs while going 1-for-2.

Lincoln-Way East always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .529. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Calvary Christian only posted an OBP of .333.

Lincoln-Way East's victory bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Calvary Christian, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-10.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lincoln-Way East will head out to challenge Andrew at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Calvary Christian, they will venture away from home to take on Shaw at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Knights' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Raiders have averaged an impressive 8 runs per game this season.
