Softball Game Preview: Cambridge-Isanti Bluejackets vs. Sauk Rapids-Rice Storm

The Cambridge-Isanti Bluejackets will head out to challenge the Sauk Rapids-Rice Storm at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Cambridge-Isanti's pitching crew has only allowed 0.9 runs per game this season, so Sauk Rapids-Rice's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Cambridge-Isanti will bounce into Thursday's game after beating North Branch, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Bluejackets blew past the Vikings 6-0 on Tuesday. The Bluejackets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matches by six runs or more this season.

The result came thanks to Britton Molitor's shutout, as she gave up just a hit and racked up ten Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Avery Crittenden was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. Taitum Kostecka was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, one triple, and one run.

Meanwhile, Sauk Rapids-Rice unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They came up short against Rocori, falling 7-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Storm have suffered since April 5th.

The win made it two in a row for Cambridge-Isanti and bumps their season record up to 14-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 0 runs in those games. As for Sauk Rapids-Rice, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-10.
