Basketball Recap: Fossil Ridge Snaps Four-Game Streak of Wins on the Road + How To Watch

Fossil Ridge dropped to 3-2 on Friday, ending the team's four-game streak of wins on the road dating back to last season. They lost to the Chaparral Wolverines on the road by a 79-62 margin. While losing is never fun, the SaberCats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 59th, while the Wolverines are ranked second).

Fossil Ridge lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Drake Walker, who posted 21 points. He has been hot recently, having posted 21 or more points the last three times he's played. Malachi Egbuji was another key player, shooting 63% from the field on his way to 10 points.

As for Chaparral, the win keeps them at an undefeated 4-0. Their offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Chaparral was led to victory by Luke Howery and Christian Williams. Howery went 10-for-16 to rack up 25 points along with eight assists and six boards, while Williams shot 67% from beyond the arc en route to 28 points and five rebounds. With that strong performance, Howery is now averaging an impressive 2.2 steals per game. Ty Weber also deserves some recognition as he grabbed his first steal of the season.

Fossil Ridge didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 73-65 defeat against ThunderRidge on the 13th. As for Chaparral, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 64-50 victory against Grandview on the 13th.
