Preview: Gouverneur Wildcats vs. Saranac Lake Red Storm
The Gouverneur Wildcats and the Saranac Lake Red Storm will round out the year against one another at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday at. Gouverneur is looking to tack on another W to their five-game streak on the road dating back to last season.
Gouverneur has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three games by 28 points or more this season. They took their game on the road on Tuesday with ease, bagging a 83-19 win over Norwood-Norfolk. The win was just what Gouverneur needed coming off of a 71-49 loss in their prior contest.
It was another big night for Raine Rumble, who scored 48 points. The contest was his sixth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Conner Witherall, who scored seven points.
Meanwhile, Saranac Lake narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Tupper Lake 49-46. The win was all the more spectacular given Saranac Lake's disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 339th, while Tupper Lake is ranked 59th).
The win got Gouverneur back to even at 3-3. As for Saranac Lake, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-2.
