Soccer Game Preview: Morris vs. Sycamore

Morris is 1-9 against Sycamore since October of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. Morris will head out on the road to face off against Sycamore at 4:30 p.m.

The home team had come away the winner the last five times Morris and Kaneland had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. Morris fell just short of Kaneland by a score of 1-0 on Wednesday. The contest was a 0-0 toss-up at halftime, but Morris couldn't quite close it out.

Meanwhile, Sycamore came tearing into Thursday's matchup with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 2.8 goals), and they left with even more momentum. Their defense stepped up to hand the Pirates a 3-0 shutout. Given Sycamore's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 118th, while Ottawa are ranked 270th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Sycamore's victory bumped their record up to 15-7. As for Morris, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-18.

Morris might still be hurting after the 8-0 loss they got from Sycamore in their previous matchup back in September. Can Morris avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
