Basketball Recap: Valdosta Wildcats vs. Camden County Wildcats
The Valdosta Wildcats's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their eighth straight loss. They suffered a tough 56-34 loss at the hands of Camden County. While losing is never fun, Valdosta can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 88th, while the Wildcats are ranked 27th).
Taylor Rietveld was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 23 points and ten rebounds for Camden County. Rietveld has been hot recently, having posted ten or more rebounds the last three times she's played. Akeelah Bryan was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Valdosta has been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 12 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 14-11 record this season. As for Camden County, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 20-4.
Valdosta does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Camden County will head out on the road to face off against the Vikings at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lowndes will be looking to keep their ten-game home win streak alive.
