Baseball Recap: Lancaster's Win Ends Five-Game Losing Streak on the Road

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lancaster). Everything went their way against the Dreher Blue Devils on Thursday as the Lancaster Bruins made off with a 17-2 win. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Ethan Bufford made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He pitched four innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five). He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 4-for-5.

In other batting news, Lancaster got a massive performance out of Dayton Hollenbeck, who scored two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Hollenbeck also hit a double, marking his first of the season. Parker McGee was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

Lancaster was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .480. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive matchups.

Lancaster's win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-3. As for Dreher, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lancaster will welcome Chester at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Lancaster will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last. As for Dreher, they will be playing at home against Dutch Fork at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Dutch Fork's pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so Dreher's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
