If River Valley was feeling good fresh off their 10-0 takedown of Chino Valley on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Dust Devils fell just short of the Kingman Bulldogs by a score of 8-7 on Thursday. The Dust Devils' loss signaled the end of their seven-game winning streak.
Sophia Reyes put in work while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up four earned (and four unearned) runs off seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one triple and one RBI.
In other batting news, Tamarie Williams made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Chastiny Gonzalez also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
