Baseball Recap: Hunt Triumphs

Hunt lost to South Johnston back in March, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Tuesday. The Warriors came out on top in a nail-biter against the Trojans, sneaking past 5-4. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Warriors.

Stone Massey looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Barnes Willoughby was excellent, going 4-for-5 with one double and one RBI. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Mattox McKeel was another key player, getting on base in five of his seven plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.

Hunt's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-8. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for South Johnston, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 15-7 record.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Hunt is set to challenge their familiar foe Fike at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, South Johnston will face off against rival West Johnston at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Trojans 3, the Wildcats 2.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.
