Basketball Preview: Monarch Knights vs. Spanish River Sharks
The Monarch Knights's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Spanish River Sharks at 6:00 p.m. on February 5th. Monarch comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 23 points in their last seven games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
Last Monday, Monarch took a serious blow against the Lions, falling 56-8.
Meanwhile, Spanish River was the victim of a rough 49-26 defeat at the hands of the Scots on Friday. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Spanish River in their matchups with the Scots: they've now lost four in a row.
Monarch dropped their record down to 1-13 with that defeat, which was their tenth straight on the road. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 18.9 points per game. As for Spanish River, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-11 record this season.
Things could have been worse for Monarch, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 44-26 loss to the Sharks in their previous matchup back in January of 2023. Can Monarch avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
