Basketball Recap: Crisp Academy Takes a Loss

Crisp Academy and Fullington Academy squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Crisp Academy had to settle for second. They fell to the Fullington Academy Trojans 56-50. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 410th, while the Trojans are ranked 200th).

It was another big night for Jaye Beth Womble, who posted 28 points and seven rebounds for Fullington Academy. Beth Womble's evening made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Caroline Stevens, who scored eight points in addition to seven boards and four steals.

Crisp Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 15-13. As for Fullington Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won 19 of their last 20 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-4 record this season.

Crisp Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 55-43 victory against Covenant Academy on the 18th. As for Fullington Academy, they will face off against Thomas Jefferson Academy at 1:30 p.m. on February 21st. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Thomas Jefferson Academy sitting on three straight wins and Fullington Academy on five.
