Football Recap: Westfield Bulldogs vs. Centreville Wildcats
Westfield was the 27-19 winner over Centreville when they last played one another back in October of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Bulldogs fell 35-28 to the Wildcats on Friday.
Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ryan Carlson, who threw for 214 yards and one TD while picking up 10.7 yards per attempt, and also punched in one rushing score. PJ Sutherland helped Carlson out on the ground, rushing for 103 yards and one touchdown.
Will Shields produced another solid performance rushing for 74 yards and a pair of scores on only ten carries, while also throwing for 271 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 12.3 yards per attempt for Centreville. Those 74 rushing yards gave Shields a new career-high. 118 of Shields' passing yards were hauled in by Jourdan Simpson.
Westfield's loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 5-3. As for Centreville, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-1.
