Basketball Game Preview: Rogers Eagles vs. West Trojans

The Rogers Eagles will venture away from home to challenge the West Trojans at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Rogers' tournament run continued when they took on Thorndale on Friday. Rogers took a 57-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of Thorndale. The Eagles haven't had much luck with the Bulldogs recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.

Meanwhile, West also suffered a loss in their last game, but this one to Jarrell by a score of 66-55. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Trojans came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 463rd, while the Cougars are ranked 1102nd).

West has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-5 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.5 points per game. As for Rogers, they now have a losing record at 5-6.

Rogers ended up a good deal behind West in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, losing 57-41. Can Rogers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
