Recap: Vero Beach Indians vs. Inlet Grove Hurricanes
After flying high against the Tradition Prep Pirates last Tuesday, the Vero Beach Indians came back down to earth. Vero Beach took a 63-59 hit to the loss column at the hands of Inlet Grove. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
When it comes to explaining why Vero Beach lost on Tuesday, one person who can't be blamed is Jayden Peart. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 25 points and 12 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jaylen Shelly, who scored 10 points along with 7 assists and 6 rebounds.
Inlet Grove got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Benson Murat out in front who scored 18 points along with 3 blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Ja?Marcus Johnson , who scored 22 points.
Vero Beach's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Inlet Grove, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.
Vero Beach will head out on the road to face off against Centennial at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Centennial focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Saturday. As for Inlet Grove, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Pahokee at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
